Social Sector: Mental Health

“Unwinding Map” is a mindful walking app which features a co-created shared map and observer cards, encouraging users to practice stress-coping techniques through multi-sensory exploration during city rambles.

There has been growing awareness of mental health since the WHO identified workplace stress and burnout as an occupational phenomenon and due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. However, in Asia, seeking help and discussing mental wellness in the workplace remains challenging as it is linked to people’s self-image.

In Singapore, the Institute of Mental Health indicates that burnout is prevalent in the creative sector due to the constant pressure to generate ideas under tight deadlines. According to a ManpowerGroup report, millennials in Singapore also have the second-longest working hours globally, making them the target audience for this project. Studies show that a good mental state can also boost human creative capacity and alleviate creative block.

“Unwinding Map” aims to prevent workplace burnout and destigmatise mental wellness for young professionals aged 28-35, fostering self-care and building a supportive community for mental well-being.
